Twenty-three month old Gebar Byrd Jr. and his mother, twenty-four year old Yasmin Rodriguez disappeared on March 22, 2010. Gebar would have turned two on April 13th. Yasmin's body was found on April 9th in the Mississippi River. Gebar, however, as never been found. Yasmin's family believed that Yasmin's befriend, Gebar's father, Gebar Byrd Sr., had something to do with their disappearance.
Now, police do, too. Byrd has been charged with murdering Yasmin and Gebar. Byrd allegedly pushed Yasmin, while she was holding Gebar, into the Mississippi River. Gebar is still missing. Byrd is being charged with two counts of First Degree Murder, Endangering the Welfare of a Child, and Domestic Assault and is being held without bond.
I don't believe that Gebar can truly rest in peace until he is found. Rest In Peace Yasmin. You and Gebar are in a better place.
